We set out Sat morning around 8:30am heading east into the Sierra Mountains on Hwy 88 & crossed the Carson Pass at 8,600 feet. The weather was absolutely perfect. Winding canyon roads with rivers & lakes coming right up to the Hwy.
Dropped into Nevada and headed south to Hawthorne. Big sky & lots of beautiful SMOOTH desert Hwy. It was kinda trippy heading through the desert and seeing road side "chain up" pull outs.
About an hour outside Hawthorne, Poppy brought out his buddies to escort us into town.
Fixed minor mechanicals, drank beer, made new friends & met some locals, rode through bars, drank beer, ate mediocre food with good friends, watched an awesome R&D fire works display with lots of misfires and HUGE explosions, got caught in a crazy desert thunder storm, drank beer, sat around a camp fire, played music, drank beer & listened to stories of conspiracy & other government plots.
Got up Sunday morning, broke down camp & headed over to Maggie's for breakfast and I'm positive the host thought we were going to rob him. He was visibly nervous on our arrival. Ate another mediocre meal and got out to our bikes just in time for a desert thunder storm to start and it was kind enough to escort us out of town, across the Nevada desert & well into the Carson Pass. EPIC!!!!
To all that came & made this trip what it was, Poppy made several comments on what a great group of guys you are. Thank you.
